Antenatal Appointments

Miss Lack offers multiple gestation booking times, to best suit her clients needs. For some women they may wish to have care in the NHS then choose to transfer to Private care later in their pregnancy.

  • From around 12 weeks of pregnancy until 28 weeks you would usually have one appointment every 4 weeks
  • 28-36 weeks you would have fortnightly appointments
  • 36 weeks until delivery Miss Lack would see you weekly
  • There is one postnatal appointment when the baby is 6 weeks old

Of course! Miss Lack prides herself on being accessible to her patients, because she knows concerns can come about at any point during pregnancy. You will be able to contact Miss Lack via the phone or email, or through her admin team.

Tests you may need during your pregnancy

1st Ultrasound to confirm pregnancy by Sonographer at The Portland Hospital or with The Birth Company

NIPT test for chromosomal anomalies/fetal sex
The Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) is a straightforward blood test, taken from the mother, which is able to screen for abnormalities in a baby, such as Down Syndrome. The NIPT test is able to detect the baby’s DNA which is present in the mother’s bloodstream. The genetic information contained in the DNA can then be analysed. Test performed by Sonographer at The Portland Hospital

Booking Bloods

These are to check things like iron level, blood group and for infectious diseases such as hepatitis

 Nuchal scan/combined screening test
The combined screening test which is taken around 12 weeks is used to check for Down’s Syndrome. It involves both a blood test and the nuchal scan, which is a measurement of the fluid at the back of the baby’s neck, performed via ultrasound. The nuchal scan can often be undergone at the same time as the dating scan, which is used to work out the due date, confirm the number of babies expected, and assess the baby’s general development.  An anomaly scan, also known as a mid-pregnancy scan, involves a careful examination of both the womb and the baby. The location of the placenta will be checked, as well as the normal development of the baby, including its organs. The scan is carried out by a sonographer and typically takes around 30 mins. Mothers are usually able to watch the scan on a monitor and have the opportunity to purchase a photo of the scan.

Second lot of routine bloods, to check iron level and for antibodies. You may also have a test for gestational diabetes at this point

A 3rd trimester ultrasound to monitor baby's growth and placental function. Final routine bloods
